I got a new camera this week and I’m completely in love with it.  I got a Canon EOS Rebel t2i; not the most recent Canon Rebel, but close enough and cheaper than the t3i.  It’s been wonderful so far, but I haven’t had too much time to play with it since I’ve been moving in, my mom’s birthday, etc.

I got a little bit of time to take pictures of one of my favorite subjects: my cat Cyrax.  She’s a natural model.  More pictures will come when I get more time to play with my amazing new camera.

I am going to try something different from now on and try out a “photo a day” theme for my blog.  I think that will help to advance my photography skills and be a fun day to day project.  Sometimes there will be more than one photo a day, though.

Rich and I moved into our new home this week in New Haven.  We are on a pretty tight budget and so we’re taking whatever hand-me-downs we can find.  Luckily for us we got two couches from his parents, a nice three seater and a love seat.  To make it so it fit the room we took a trip to Ikea to get some fabric and then attempted to make couch covers by ourselves.  Below is a sample of the original fabric, followed my the new fabric and the finished product.

The whole project ended up being around $40 - $45 total, so a lot cheaper than the hundred dollar couch covers we were looking at.  I haven’t attempted the three seater yet since I got tired and hungry after this one, but pictures will come of that as well.

I’ve been quite a busy bee since coming home from TN.  I’ve traveled back and forth from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Basically, I’ve been living out of my trusty L.L.Bean backpack.
I spent a decent amount of time down at Long Beach Island on the Jersey Shore.

We went to the beach, ate good food, went for bike rides, and hung out on the deck.  Rich and I have been obsessed with making tequila sunrises (see picture below).

I’m enjoying spending this summer just relaxing, working on my math, and running.  It’s been a great time except for the fact that I’m running low on cash.  I’m riding on graduation money and “volunteering” on psych studies.  My mission is to get through the entire summer without getting a real job.  My next move lined up is to sell some dvds and after that I’m a little lost.  I’ll keep updates on how I get through the summer job-free and what I’m doing to spend my summer just enjoying life.
